La Mercè at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site

The Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site is joining in with La Mercè 2025 by organising a free open day on Wednesday, 24 September, from 9.30 am to 3 pm.

The Jove Camerata Orpheus will be offering recitals by several young soloists from the association in the Sala Domènech i Montaner.

Children’s show Victoria, Fígaro i la seva guitarra in collaboration with the Fundació Victoria de los Ángeles in the Sala Pau Gil*

On the occasion of the centenary of Victoria de los Ángeles, the soprano Cristina Segura -from the earliest students on the Master's in Lied Victoria de los Ángeles at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC)- and the guitarist Bernado Rambeaud created this exquisite children’s programme based around the repertoire of the soprano Victoria de los Ángeles, born in Barcelona in 1923. The show offers audiences young and old a look at her repertoire, from her beginnings at the University of Barcelona, where she was born and where she sang her songs in courtyards accompanied by a guitar, through to her international consecration in the worlds finest theatres. Lied, opera and popular songs go hand in hand in this show, which has been performed at different places around Catalonia and is now being offered for the first time in Barcelona at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site as part of La Mercè. In the show, children have to look for Fígaro, the cat that Victoria owned together with Ravel and Mahler...Meowww!

* Capacity in the room is limited. Those wishing to attend the children’s show should book in advance using this link. The audience can visit the Art Nouveau Site for free after the show.

There’s also a chance to see the temporary exhibition Imprescindibles. Les dones que fan història a Sant Pau, a display highlighting women's contribution in the hospital realm over the centuries.
