In 2023, La Maria, the stage name of Maria Bertomeu (born in Oliva, in the Safor region of the Valencian Country), revolutionised Valencian song with her first album, L’Assumpció [The Assumption of Mary] which evolved the genre’s structures and guided them towards contemporary sounds. Now, two years later, she has released Robina, a new full-length album and show that brings together traditional music and electronic music in a hypnotic, emotional experience. Yes, what you’re hearing is, in essence, a traditional Valencian song, but it’s been filtered through electronic textures that transport the songs from the era in which they were composed to our present day.

La Maria is tradition and innovation. Fusion and evolution. Reinterpretation and cultural heritage. Her distinctive, personal, captivating voice commands the stage with striking power and sensitivity, deeply moving everyone in the audience.

The show also features the talented musicians of the Orquestra Simfònica Vozes, which emerged from a social integration project that offers free, high-quality music education to children and young people.
