Open day at MUHBA Vil·la Joana

Ramon Miralles i Vilalta, builder and mayor of Sarrià, had a second home built on the site of the old Mas Ferrer in Collserola between 1889 and 1890. And it was to this house that he welcomed ailing poet Jacint Verdaguer, who died on 10 June 1902. In 1963, some of the rooms were turned into the first museum dedicated to the writer. From 1920 to 1973, the house was the headquarters of the municipal schools for the deaf, the blind, and others with special needs. For some time, the house was also home to the Laboratori d’Estudis i Investigacions, which was supported by Barcelona City Council and was an international benchmark in its field.

Today it is both a memorial and a house for literature: a space that celebrates the value of the written word through the figure of Verdaguer. The poet has become a focal point, presenting Barcelona as a literary city and highlighting the transcendental importance of literature in the public sphere.

The entire space is open.
