What if, when it refuses to rain, we dance like Native Americans and call on the sky to pour? This show is an invitation to summon rain through movement. It’s a festive piece that blends popular celebration, urban dance, documentary theatre and performance, straddling the line between reality and fiction, to offer a poetic, humorous tribute to the meteorological phenomenon of rain. The project originated in 2022, one of the driest years Catalonia has ever experienced. In response, this company developed its own rain ritual – and since then, it’s been raining non-stop in Catalonia. Coincidence? Or does it work? Best to trust the science: it’s unlikely that the rainfall is thanks to Banda Esfèrica’s ritual – but this show does invite us to connect in different ways, build community, rediscover the sky and celebrate rain and life.
