Biography. A journey through the life and work of the performer, from her artistic origins to her emergence and consecration.

Núria Feliu (1941-2022) was a unique artist in Catalan music. Apart from singer-songwriters, she became the performer we needed. She did not write music or lyrics, but associated with composers who created texts and melodies especially for her.

She performed all popular genres, from the couplet to the bolero, making her way all over the country with her orchestra. She signed for a record label in Madrid on the condition she would continue recording her work in Catalan, and she ended up creating her own production company to be able to publish the songs she wanted to.

Her name is associated with the promotion of live music, the defence of the Catalan language, social movements in the neighbourhoods and the anti-Francoist struggle.

For many years, playing “at the Palau” was a landmark in the career of musicians. The Palau de la Música Catalana was a place of communion with the audience, with culture and the country. That’s why the title Núria Feliu at the Palau (Robert) has been given to this display, which pays tribute to her career and opens it up to new generations.

Núria Feliu al Palau (Robert) és una proposta de Palau Robert i el Departament de Cultura. Comissariada per Òscar Dalmau i amb un guió de Julià Guillamón, compta també amb Fermí Puig (Documentació), el despatx Llamazares Pomés Arquitectura (Museografia) i el disseny gràfic de l’agència Duró.

Núria Feliu (1941-2022) és una artista singular en la música catalana. Al marge dels cantautors, esdevé la intèrpret que faltava. No escriu música ni lletres, però s’associa amb poetes i compositors que fan textos i melodies expressament per a ella. En una època de forta influència de la cançó francesa, aposta pel repertori nord-americà: jazz, musicals i cançons de pel·lícules.

Toca tots els gèneres populars —del cuplet al bolero—, recorrent el país amunt i avall amb la seva orquestra. És rebel i emprenedora: fitxa per a una discogràfica de Madrid amb la condició de continuar enregistrant en català i acaba creant la seva pròpia productora per poder editar els discos que vol. El seu nom s’associa a la reivindicació de la música viva, a la defensa de la llengua catalana, als moviments socials de barri i a la lluita antifranquista.

Durant molts anys «fer un Palau» va ser una fita en la carrera dels músics. El Palau de la Música Catalana era un lloc de comunió amb el públic, amb la cultura i el país. Per això han titulat «Núria Feliu al Palau (Robert)» aquesta exposició que vol homenatjar la seva trajectòria i descobrir-la a les noves generacions.
