Installation. Artist Francesc Torres reacts to the question “Why war?” by offering a complex response through the symbolic language of art.

The fragility of an egg is at the centre of the installation La maldat benvinguda, by Francesc Torres, where ambiguity and double meaning are extreme. The object will be suspended in the air by hairs, between a military ambulance and a concrete wall. The piece exists in an intermediate and liminal realm, reflecting an extremely precarious balance in the same way that everything that maintains peace before the start of war is precarious.

The installation stages the tensions typical in war and reaches out to the visitor, forcing them to ponder their historical prevalence. War unleashes destruction, but is a driving force at the same time. Is it possible to avoid it?

A la pregunta 'Per què, la guerra?', l'artista Francesc Torres, a través de l’obra 'La maldat benvinguda', ofereix una resposta complexa a aquest terrible succés mitjançant el llenguatge simbòlic de l’art.

La fragilitat d’un ou esdevé el centre d’aquesta instal·lació, on l’ambigüitat i el doble sentit són radicals. L’objecte se sosté en l’aire pels pèls, entre una ambulància de guerra i el un mur de formigó.

La peça existeix en un territori intermedi, liminal, reflectint un equilibri extremadament precari, de la mateixa manera que és precari tot allò que manté la pau abans que comenci la guerra.

La proposta escenifica les tensions pròpies dels conflictes bèl·lics i vol interpel·lar el visitant i forçar-lo a raonar sobre la seva prevalença històrica. La guerra desencadena destrucció, però alhora també és motor. És possible evitar-la?
