The Barcelona Municipal Archive presents the exhibition Barcelona: The Archive we are.

The title Barcelona: The Archive we are expresses the enduring link between the city, the Barcelona Municipal Archive and the people who, collectively, shape the memory of Barcelona. Throughout our lives, we generate documents that become part of the archives. The exhibition aims to make everyone feel like a protagonist, showing that the Archive is not a distant institution, but a living, shared and close space that defines us.

The exhibition’s approach is based on the power and uniqueness of original documents, with around one hundred items—including originals, facsimiles and reproductions—selected from among the more than 50 linear kilometres of documentary holdings preserved by the Barcelona Municipal Archive since the 13th century.

Until 25 September, and as a special exception, the public will be able to view the Green Paper of Barcelona on display for the first time, one of the city’s most important books of privileges, dating from the 14th century and held at the City Historical Archive.
