Contemporary dance – United Kingdom

For all audiences

Wordless performance / Artists with functional diversity

Would you like to meet an artist who lives with disability and has more choreographic talent than all of us put together? In RO-TES (which means ‘cart’ in Khmer), you’ll meet Nadenh Poan, a young Cambodian who grew up on a boat in the jungle and spent much of his life swimming – as this was the easiest way for him to move. Until he discovered he could move on land, too. Come and see how he does it, as he reimagines his ‘cart’ as a vehicle capable of carrying more than just his body. Manchester-based Stopgap Dance Company has designed an innovative wheelchair that enables the artist to perform bold, expressive movements to irresistible rhythms. Audiences are invited to delight in and follow this joyful celebration of progress, community and Nadenh’s journey. A new work from a UK company that believes in the transformative power of dance.

If you are blind or have low vision, you’re invited to join a tactile tour of the performance elements 15 minutes before the show on Sunday, 28 September.
