‘Un teatre Lliure’

Back

History of theatre. The exhibition moves away from conventional retrospective formats to offer a contemporary vision of values, questions and types of engagement that have defined the institution since its inception.

On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Teatre Lliure and the Palau Robert are presenting the exhibition Un teatre Lliure, reinterpreting half a century of one of the country’s leading theatres.

Founded in 1976 as a cooperative by a group of young people from independent theatre, the goal was to create “a theatre of art for everybody”. The project has become consolidated over the course of five decades as a fundamental public service facility for stage creation.

The exhibition is articulated through five installations created specifically for this celebration by photographers and stage designers closely linked to the history of the Lliure, retaining the memory of the co-founder Fabià Puigserver.

The exhibition also offers guided tours by Juan Carlos Olivares. These tours are on Fridays at 12 noon and are free, with prior booking.
