'La truita'

Back

Theatre. A chaotic family lunch filled with comedy and drama.

Synopsis

Lively dialogue, subtle irony, and a distinct contemporary perspective are the hallmarks of La truita, a fantastic example of contemporary European playwriting. The action takes place during a family lunch organised by an older couple (Emma Vilarasau and Jordi Boixaderas) to celebrate the husband’s sixty-fifth birthday. The couple’s three daughters come to the lunch with their partners and children. The play is set in the country house where the couple has been living for a few months. Shortly before retirement, they decided to leave the city and open an organic bakery in an inland village, far from the city and their daughters and granddaughters. The storm breaks out when the middle daughter, now a lacto-pesco-vegetarian, refuses to eat the beef prepared by her mother and asks her to cook a river trout she bought at a fish farm on the way. Tensions start to boil over.
