Cinema. The guest of honour is Ira Sachs, a leading director in current indie film production, usually characterised for his sensitivity with LGBTIQ+ themes.

The 12th edition of the independent North American film festival, the Americana Film Fest, is being held at the Cinemes Girona, the Zumzeig and the  Texas from 11 to 16 March. The opening session is at the Phenomena on Tuesday, 11 March.

The sections in the programme are: NEXT, which backs future promises; DOCS, offering documentaries; TOPS, which presents some of the most outstanding works of the year, and SHORTS, with a selection or short films.

Special guest Ira Sachs will be the object of a retrospective in collaboration with the Filmoteca, with all his feature-length films to be screened between 12 and 30 March. Besides his most successful work, spectators will also be able to watch his lesser-known works, such as his first film The Delta and the Sundance-winning Forty Shades of Blue.
