Theatre. A woman cornered by war. A decision that will determine her identity.

Synopsis

All types or crises afflict the most vulnerable: the poor, workers, and among them, as all of us have experienced, crises come with the image of a woman’s face.

Ella Gericke is one of them. She is widowed after a year of marriage and, with no work and no means of subsistence, she has no choice but to adopt the identity of her husband, Max Gericke, and replace him at the factory as a forklift driver. Dressed as a man, she experiences Hitler’s rise to power and the disasters of the war. The end of the conflict eases some difficulties but does not liberate her from unemployment or hunger. Ella/Max Gericke recalls some of the moments from her tough journey, which she lived with energy and a sense of self-improvement, as an extraordinary survivor, as women tend to be.
