Family Visit: 'Mammoth hunters'

Back

A fossilised skeleton and an extremely realistic replica of a woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) allow us to discover what these cousins of today’s elephants were really like and try to work out what caused them to disappear. In this family visit, we can discover what the animals were like that lived with our ancient ancestors in the ice age, over 10,000 years ago. We’ll put ourselves in their position to try and imagine what their life was like, what they ate and how they hunted. What were mammoths like and where did they live? What may have led to their extinction? Were women hunters? Will it be possible for mammoths to become unextinct? Don’t miss this visit to resolve these questions and many more.
