'La tempestat’ (The Tempest)

Back

Theatre. One of William Shakespeare’s biggest and most magical texts.

Synopsis

A tempest causes a shipwreck affecting Alonso, King of Naples, his son Ferdinand and Antonio, who usurped the Dukedom of Milan from his brother. The storm was caused by Prosper, the legitimate Duke of Milan, who has drawn them to a remote island where has lived for some time with his daughter Miranda. The shipwreck is the start of his plan for vengeance, which plays with love and desperation, conceived to regain what was taken from him by using secret natural powers. Prosper is familiar with hidden sciences and knows how to control the spirits of the island, such as Ariel, who he has turned to serve him, and the unfortunate Caliban...

This is one of Shakespeare’s biggest and most earthly stories, the last in terms of chronology and age, enduring through to the present day. The island will be the scene of buffoons, kings, sailors, lovers, nobles and drunks, surrounded by characters that only live in fiction while it becomes reality in the theatre.
