Synopsis

Overflowing with enthusiasm and without fear of ridicule, Florence Foster Jenkins culminated her career by organising a concert at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, where her devotion to delighting the audience with her strident singing, convinced that it sounded absolutely marvellous, made her an icon of the time.

Peter Quilter's work masterfully contrasts Florence's ambition spurred on by her passion for music with the sweet manoeuvres of her friends and family not to discourage her; despite the criticism and laughter that her out-of-tune singing provokes, this cheerful and delirious woman holds on firmly to her dream, leading to moments that are as hilarious as they are moving.
