'La sonnambula'

Opera. A new production of Vincenzo Bellini's opera, which is considered an icon of bel canto.

From 16 April to 8 May, El Gran Teatre del Liceu will be staging a new production of Vincenzo Bellini’s opera, La sonnambula . The work, considered an icon of bel canto, tells the story of Amina, a young woman who’s discovered sleeping in a stranger’s house when she’s found sleepwalking. This triggers suspicions of infidelity, and puts her innocence to the test. ​

Lorenzo Passerini will be the musical director, and stage director Bárbara Lluch will bring a contemporary and feminist perspective to the story. The cast includes soprano Nadine Sierra as Amina, and tenor Xabier Anduaga as Elvino.
