'El monstre al laberint’ (The Monster in the Maze)

Musical. A participatory opera that brings to the stage the story of Theseus and the Minotaur.

Synopsis

Minos, king of the island of Crete, has a labyrinth in his palace in which he keeps the Minotaur, a monster – half man and half bull – which feeds on human flesh. To press home a military victory over Athens, Minos decrees that the Athenians should provide a regular supply of their young people to be sacrificed to the monster. To put an end to Minos’ blood-thirsty demands, the young Athenian Theseus joins one of these shiploads of young people destined to become the monster’s next victims. When he enters the maze, he finds a way to slay the creature and save the lives of his fellow Athenians.

A collective and participatory opera that brings professionals and amateurs together to participate in a stage show featuring both artistic experience and human adventure.


Recommended age: 12 and over.
