The Museu de la Música de Barcelona is a space dedicated to exploring music and sound art as forms of knowledge, expression and encounter, with a leading instrument collection at European level.
Promoted by Barcelona City Council, the Museu de la Música is an institution devoted to the research, conservation and dissemination of musical and sonic heritage from an open and plural perspective. The museum understands the history of music as the result of cultural encounters and complex processes, embedded within a diverse and constantly evolving social context. With one of the richest instrument collections in Europe, the centre combines exhibition, experimentation and mediation to bring musical knowledge closer to all audiences. Conceived as an agora for debate, learning and enjoyment, the Museu de la Música develops a wide-ranging programme of activities and has established itself as a key node in the city’s musical life, while ensuring public access to cultural rights linked to sound and music.
