Literature. The British writer and actor gets Sant Jordi 2024 under way in Barcelona.

David Walliams will be delivering the Opening Speech at the Biblioteca Gabriel García Márquez on Monday, 22 April.

Walliams is both an actor and author of children's novels. In 2013 he published his first children’s book, Ratburger, the start of a long series. He has published over ten novels, which have won him the support of the public and critics alike, and he is currently the best-selling children’s author in the United Kingdom.

Walliams has sold over 56 million copies of his books, which have been translated into more than 55 languages, and he has been hailed as “the Roald Dahl of the 21st century”. Billionaire Boy, Bad Dad, The World's Worst Children,The Slightly Annoying Elephant and Gangsta Granny (winner of the Atrapallibres award 2014-2015) are some of his best-known stories.

David Walliams (Londres, 1971) combina la faceta d’actor amb la d’escriptor de novel·les per a joves. L’any 2013 va publicar el seu primer llibre juvenil, La increïble història de... Les hamburgueses de rata, que començava una llarga sèrie. Ha publicat sis novel·les, amb les quals ha guanyat el suport del públic i de la crítica, i ha esdevingut l’autor juvenil més venut del moment al Regne Unit. Walliams ha superat els 56 milions de còpies de les seves obres, que s’han traduït a més de 55 idiomes, i la premsa l’ha batejat com “el Roald Dahl del segle XXI”. El noi del milió, El papa pispa, Los peores niños del mundo, Un elefant una mica empipador i L’àvia gàngster (premi Atrapallibres 2014-2015) són algunes de les seves històries més conegudes.

L’autor britànic també ha triomfat com a humorista a les sèries Little Britain o Rock Profile i ha estat jutge del concurs televisiu Britain’s Got Talent.
