Panoràmic 2025 at the CCCB: Presentation and screening of ‘Soundtrack to a Coup d’État’

Cinema. A presentation by Johan Grimonprez, one of the most lucid and critical voices in contemporary film, in a dialogue with Andrés Hispano.

The Belgian artist and filmmaker Johan Grimonprez is known for films such as dial H-I-S-T-O.R.Y (1997) and Double Take (2009). His work explores the boundaries between documentary and fiction, art and politics. In this session, he talks to the filmmaker, writer and curator Andrés Hispano.

Following the talk, there’s a screening of his latest documentary, Soundtrack to a Coup d'État (2024), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar.

The film recounts an episode of the Cold War through music and politics, highlighting the protest of musicians Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach at the UN over the assassination of Patrice Lumumba
