Photography. A selection of glass plates preserved by the heirs of the artist, along with a large number of original copies preserved in the documentary collections of La Vanguardia.

Joan Andreu Puig Farran: the turbulent decade (1929-1939) is the first exhibition dedicated to the photographer from Lleida who set up in Barcelona in 1920, Puig Farran.

By the time the Republican period came around, between 1929 and 1931, the photographer was a graphic reporter for the daily press. Following the outbreak of the Civil War, he moved to the different battlefronts, including in Aragon and on the island of Mallorca (1936). Once the conflict came to an end, he went into exile in France and went through different internment camps, first French and then Francoist. Upon returning to Barcelona in 1945, then under the Franco regime, he could not resume his work as a photojournalist, so he dedicated himself to industrial and tourist photography and joined forces with his friend Antoni Campañà, with whom he created the CYP postcard stamp in 1952.

The exhibition is made up of a selection of the glass plates preserved by the heirs of the artist himself, along with a large number of original copies preserved in the documentary collections of La Vanguardia. In addition, it features several publications from the time that show how the images reached the public.

Schedule
