‘Sondheim x Sondheim’

Musical theatre. A musical evening that pays tribute to the composer and lyricist, with performances by Mario Gas, Pep Molina, Vicky Peña and Muntsa Rius, as well as others.

In 2021, Stephen Sondheim, the icon of the world of musicals in the second half of the 20th century, left us. A brilliant lyricist and composer very close to the history of Catalan theatre, in particular due to the affinity between his work and Mario Gas, who directed, among other titles, a memorable Sweeney Todd, a performance that Sondheim himself also enthusiastically applauded one night in Barcelona.

That made history and, with this in mind, there is no one better placed than Gas to give us this musical evening in memory of the genius, accompanied by a number of the artists who starred in Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Follies or Golfus de Roma, among others.

El 2021 ens va deixar Stephen Sondheim, la gran referència del musical de la segona meitat del segle XX. Un genial lletrista i compositor molt proper a la història del teatre català, sobretot per l'afinitat entre la seva obra i Mario Gas, que ha dirigit, entre d'altres títols, un memorable Sweeney Todd, funció que una nit també va aplaudir entusiasmat el propi Sondheim a Barcelona. Això és fer història i, per aquest motiu, ningú millor que Gas per regalar-nos aquesta vetllada musical en memòria del geni, acompanyat d'alhguns dels artistes que van protagonitzar Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Follies o Golfus de Roma, entre d'altres.
