Raül Garrigasait and Toni Sala: ‘Gold Veins: Creation and Tradition’

Back

Literature. A discussion about tradition, its role in contemporary creation and the literary legacy of Mercè Rodoreda.

The writer Toni Sala and the philosopher and writer Raül Garrigasait take part in a discussion moderated by Neus Penalba as part of the cycle Rodoreda, contemporània.

The discussion is based on the importance of tradition in contemporary creation and the literary legacy of Mercè Rodoreda, starting in particular with the prologue for War, so much War…, where the author pays tribute to Verdaguer, Ruyra and Carner, three poets and storytellers who, as she saw it, had “cut stones in the quarry of language” and discovered veins of gold.

The discussion explores what it means to dialogue with tradition, to gain awareness of one’s own legacy and how this legacy may not be renewed in the present.
