22nd Barcelona Film and Human Rights Festival

Cinema. The festival will open with a message from Iranian activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi denouncing the repression of women imprisoned under Iran's regime.

From 5 to 10 December, Cines Maldà will host the 22nd edition of the Barcelona Film and Human Rights Festival (FCDHBCN).

The opening event will feature the screening of Tortura Blanca and an exclusive video message from its director, Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi, recipient of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, vice president of the Defenders of Human Rights Centre (DHRC) and winner of the UNESCO World Press Freedom Prize.

The programme brings together an international selection of documentaries, feature films and short films exploring subjects ranging from the struggle of Afghan women against Taliban restrictions and migration and criminal networks in the English Channel, to the impact of renewable energy projects on rural communities and stories of personal resilience.
