Experimental flamenco. The artist presents the most innovative face of flamenco.

The most innovative voice of flamenco, Rocío Márquez, will be performing at Barcelona’s local festival, La Mercè 2025. Her performance entitled Himno Vertical will be in Avinguda de la Catedral, in the heart of the Gòtic neighbourhood, on Tuesday, 23 September . Admission is free for everybody and the event is being organised by the Barcelona Institute of Culture.

Having become firmly established with Lámpara Minera, the artist has explored boundaries blending tradition with electronic and classical sounds. This Himno Vertical format, which evokes the vertical poetry of the Argentinian poet Roberto Juarroz, is a project that embraces fandangos, tangos, bulerías and other genres, and which includes texts by Shakespeare, Juan del Encina and Friedrich von Schiller.
